The Washington County Fair Celebrates 50 Years!

The Washington County Fair turned 50 this year!  We figured it would be a great time to take the kids to experience it {especially since they are free!}

We arrived right as the fair opened on Wednesday morning, the first day.  We chose this for several reasons.  One, it was still relatively clean (so much dust!).  Two, it wasn't as hot early in the morning and we didn't have to worry about being out late at night.

Lastly, there was no one there!  It was wonderful because Caroline could walk around and explore without us worrying about her getting lost in a sea of legs.  She received more individual interaction from the farmers who spent time explaining the different animals to her and answering her questions.

Caroline was a little intimidated at first.  She'd never been this up and close and personal with such large animals before.  There was some hand-holding to start the day.

That didn't last long though.  Soon she was out exploring on her own as if she owned the place.  Visiting the "sheeps"

...and even trying to give them some kisses.

Caroline was a big fan of the baby cows, as well.  Although she was a little concerned that they weren't with their Mommy.

We wandered over to the rides even though they weren't open yet {she probably isn't tall enough to ride them anyways}.  Caroline was in awe over the larger than life toys and the bright colors they exhibited.   She may have even tried to sneak onto one of them...

She asks about every other day or so when she can see the "wheel" again.  It's hard to explain to her that the fair is over this year and won't be back until next summer.  We will definitely be bringing her back!
